I have a desire to turn off my server on my Shield BUT I do not want to remove it and then have to re-install.
The need I have includes the fact that I do not want the server to restart when the Shield is rebooted.
Basically I want the Shield’s server, for a while, to behave like the Windows server does if you uncheck the “Start Plex media server at logon” box.
I also would like to be able to turn the normal behavior back on.
I am not Android fluent enough to be sure what the “disable” option actually does, if that is the way to accomplish what I want, so I need some advice so as not to screw thing up too much.
Doesn’t plex/settings/advanced/plex media server OFF do the trick?
I just turned it off and restarted the Shield.
It stayed off !

Thank you. I had not even looked in Plex settings for that as it does not exist internally for the Windows server.
I guess that my old brain just cannot process outside the box. (Or inside in this case)
I’m going to have to assume not always, or not with all versions. I’ve tried to turn it off with the latest version as of today, and it will not stay off across reboots. Instead I went into the SHIELD’s app list, and set it to disabled from there.
This does not explain it to me. From the Shield under advanced, there is not an opeion to turn off the server. From the web client, I am not seeing it either. Can someone provide more details on how to do this? (remember that I will want Plex on the shild, just not the Plex Server)
Thanks
I’m confused, did you ever set it up in the first place? I don’t think the option shows up if you never configured PMS on your Shield.
