Hi
I can’t understand why nobody is doing anything about it. After all, the problem concerns all devices and platforms.
Symptoms: The sound is interrupted as if samples are being lost, giving a hiccup effect. On some tracks it can be heard more (no matter MP3, M4A or FLAC).
IOS platform and air play on the Denon 1600: it’s hard to listen. Sometimes you can even hear a serious loss of dynamics and the sound becomes very aggressive. It’s good with other DLNA apps, and it’s also good for playback from internal memory. At home, I have a 150mbps WiFi network.
Android platform: Samsung S20 Ultra (headphones) - as above, sound with missing samples.
Android platform: Huaweii P20 Pro (BT) OpenSL ES - problems, AAudio worse quality but no lost packages.
Of course, all applications are updated on an ongoing basis, and problems with the sound appeared shortly at the beginning after one of the first updates was released to plexamp.
I use both the Windows and Android versions of Plexamp both locally and remote, and have not had any issues with dropped packets. My music is encoded mp3, FLAC, and m4a as well. Audio sounds great.
Following signal path. I assume cables and connectors are all good?
Software side. I assume PC has enough performance to send music. With those assumptions, In App try/check this Plexamp EQ set to off, loudness leveling set Off, music quality set to maximum for wifi, in advanced settings check the preamp and limiter. Turn off the limiter and put preamp down to zero. And then volume on the Plexamp device up to max.
That should eliminate software setting that might be causing issues. Your description of the issue it’s difficult to tell what is going on.
I use Plexamp apps on ios, macos, windows. I also use Airplay to play to Yamaha and Arcam devices and I use DLNA/uPnP as well. I listen to FLAC music which is on my local external HDD. I see no hiccups or other artifacts during playback. Something must be wrong on HW or SW settings.
Now I play Huaweii P20Pro on my phone. WiFi in the company. 300mbps link. Audio interface OpenSL ES. Music cuts, no matter if the source is MP3 or FLAC.
The server is on the 7th generation i5. 16GB RAM. Raid. 4K movie playback without compression (60GB source) without any jams on the nvidia shield.
The sound from the plexamp was flawless at the very beginning after the release of the application. Two updates later it turned into a nightmare. I already wanted to modify WiFi at home, but I have completely different devices at work.
What can I change in the PLEX Server configuration yet?
However, the problem is on the server side, I sit for a long time and listen through the browser. This is also where these artifacts appear during playback. Do I need to enable debugging on the server to send logs here? Now it’s turned off and I don’t know if the saved logs contain any useful information.
