So… There has been a lot of hate for the Plex team and their product decisions… Following the Roku debacle, I just want to say thank you to the Plex team for listening to their users. I hope others will join in.
They have pumped out a lot of awesome updates in the last few months.
(1) New, beautiful UNO UI on Roku, and coming to other platforms soonish.
03/28/19 Now in Beta on ATV!
(2) New, awesome, music player on iOS and Android… Coming to other platforms soonish.
(3) New video player UI coming to Android “very, very soon”, which includes PiP, gestures, etc.
(4) New, enhanced video player for iOS.
(5) Awesome new build of PMS, with new metadata features coming soon for music, and hopefully the removal of the need for the Plex Dance
I’ll second this. My frustration led me to some harsh criticism, and finally drove me away from Plex for a while, but I kept tabs on it, in hopes that they would recover. I’m happy to say that Plex came through in a big way with Uno.

I’m not new to plex - using it for years, That said I don’t hang around the forum much. I use Plex on a Roku every now and a again and have not noticed a problem with it.
I am wondering what the problem was - I don’t recall ever having an issue with Plex on Roku.
I’ll third this! I Plex!
I haven’t been on Plex for even a year, but after testing it with the free version and jumping right into the life-time pass. I love this program. Made me happy that I cut the cord. I haven’t had any real issues and went out and got a pc to dedicate for Media/Live TV/Music/Audiobooks for my whole family (1 daughter away at college and one soon to be, family and friends in other states, etc.). | even signed up to be a beta-tester for android mobile app.
I check the forums everyday just to see if I can help anyone out with my experiences setting things up. I’ve found things I didn’t even know I could do with Plex, that I’m using everyday now. Hell, I’ve got my 77 yr old mother using it with Roku and she loves it. Yes, some of the changes (to Roku) have thrown her a curveball, but she has picked it right back up and runs with it.
I think the saddest thing about all the negativity towards Plex is people now expect everything to be just how they want it, when they want it and for someone else to do it when they say. I could never have built this kind of program to do even one thing that Plex has and for that I’m grateful!
Keep up the great work!
You’re very kind to offer, but in general we try not to feed our developers after midnight (or get them wet). Weird … stuff happens.
Honestly, just reading this sort of feedback makes it all worthwhile for us. We care a lot about making our users happy and we try hard (though of course not without missteps over the years).
