I BELIEVE, if I’m not mistaken, it was Big Wheel who chimed in with a VERY short statement saying it should be gone, implying that it was no longer added. His comment was then deleted.
He was the only employee that I can recall who jumped in recently to give a response, but no other employees have come forward yet with any further developments.
That message existed somewhere between these comments:
It sounds to me that they should officially split the client apps into two. There’s no way that they can continue down this path of consistency, adding unnecessary bells and whistles that so called enhance their branding when it actually tarnishes the usefulness of the apps entirely. It may be no big deal and the argument can be made that “well, look at what the others are doing! They added one too!” Is pretty suspect of separating the streaming service app from the one that is used for personal home media. This can’t keep going unless Plex wants an all out civil war against their customers, yet again for the umpteenth time. And they never seem to learn their lessons, defaulting in launching these “features” without on/off switches. Which consistently says they do this with full intent. It’s not a mistake. There’s international thinking behind all of these decisions.
Splitting the apps into any more parts than the parts we already have would just take development time away overall, making it even harder to get updates we really need.
I am willing to live with Plex changing to a degree, because change is inevitable and Plex likely needs to continue finding new sources of revenue. They just have to find a way be respectful of the power users that run servers, without whom there would be no users at all.
This startup sound incident was a big misstep. They have to know we’re all control freaks.
One only gets a reply from plex, inc if one personally attacks their business model, investor strategy, or coding competencies. Just look at the response from when plex, inc was showing hardcore porn to children via the watchlist.
This place feels like the ancient linux forums where the easiest way to get an answer was to insult the rest of the users, ask the wrong question, then reply with the actual question.
We don’t even have a way to see if plex, inc has seen a thread or replied easily (blue post). That is the problem with taking outside investment - plex, inc needs to chase milestones and MVP to get their next payments and plex, inc just doesn’t have time to listen to users unless something seriously breaks. My opinion: close “Feature Suggestions”, this board does not align with production milestones from investors and we are spinning our tires in here, as evidenced by the complete lack to communication. Plex can’t even organize music by when more than one artist exists - a feature request since 2015, and not one plex, inc employee has come back with a solution.
The flashing is still there for you? The most-recent Android client I installed had a far more sedated version of the new intro. Not multi-colored at all.
Personally I only wanted the audio removed from it.
I guess I’ll have to try that. I was on a public release before but thought I’d try the beta. Now it’s making it difficult to downgrade. I manage the apps on my shield over ADB so I can avoid having to log into google. My shield is basically just a Plex app device, I don’t use any other apps.
Maybe I need to completely uninstall Plex and set it up from scratch to get rid of the sound. There were plenty of reports including yours on this thread saying it’s gone and I can’t get rid of it!!
