Please add the ability to disable this. I was not a fan of Youtube adding a startup sound and certainly not happy to have one with Plex now.
Adding an ability to disable it would be ideal.
At this point I’m starting to think that Plex wants me to give Emby or Jellyfin another try…

Please allow us to turn this off. It’s not a terrible default experience, but just give us a toggle to remove it for apps/environments where we don’t want/need it.
Think automation software - We had a client using plex and some home automation to play a specific video at a timed interval on their TVs, then switch back to cable. This probably ruins their experience (I’m no longer with the support company).
Think watching some TV while your SO sleeps. Oh no, you didn’t realize the volume was at 30 instead of 12. Now your SO is awake and she’s complaining about your damn animes.

This is a terrible anti-user decision. This startup sound is not a good idea, was implemented poorly, and doesn’t add any value to the platform.
An option to disable WHICH IS SET TO DISABLED BY DEFAULT must be rolled out. Simply adding a way to disable defaulting to ON will not address this issue.
I was saw this coming when PLEX plex copied the logo from hulu

On a more serious note, on which versions are folks seeing this behavior? I’ve got a couple of clients and do not experience it on either. I’m not on the beta train. Does that have something to do with it?
They sneakily added it to the beta. Its not even mentioned in the release notes!

Ah, thanks. Then we can reasonably hope that this leaked into the wild without being duly considered and will be swiftly retracted given the blowback.

My video was CCWGTV so it appears to be android tv/Google TV initially, and android app I’ve not seen reports on other clients (yet)
Interesting, my shield seems to have stopped shouting… ahh back to the joy of silence. (at least for now)
I see that the current beta version is 9.12.0.36793
The version I have installed is 9.12.1 (The latest released non beta version)
(as I have auto updates enable, I am not sure when it updated, but looks like 9.12.1 was released about 22 hours ago. So I am guessing the the start up sound was in 9.12.0.36793 and it updated to 9.12.1 at some point today.
Think I might turn off auto updates for the time being and wait and for someone else to report if the sound is in the next beta…
My shield is on 9.12.1 and I still have the sound.
Interestingly it’s gone for me now also… YIPPEE!!!
I have a Phillips Android TV as well as a Shield Pro 2019 and the sound is gone from both.
Dare we hope??

Ridiculous and imposing. This needs to go immediately or, as so many have said, just LET US TURN THE NOISE OFF!!!
I’ve not run into it on my CCwGTV or phone. but holly crap that will annoy the crap out of me…
This causes us to cringe every time we have to start the app up now, it’s horrible and loud and annoying and crass

I couldn’t find any official Plex response in this thread. Plex should answer, almost 450votes in 5days, that speaks for itself. Plex should answer and solve this, then give our votes back
