Well, Plex updated to Version 1.30.2.6563 a few days ago. My Android based Channel Master Stream Plus DVR with the Plex App can no longer play videos from my Android phone or Digital Camera to my home theater. And this affects my videos are in the PHOTOS section.
If the videos are in the Other Videos or Recently Played, I can play videos with no issues.
This is a recurrence of essentially the same Android device issue from a few months ago. I checked with my Roku this morning on the downstairs TV - NO ISSUES with playing videos - it’s the Android based devices with the problem.
Frustrating - it took a while for this to get fixed before - not sure why this bug has returned again.
I could not reproduce but I might be missing step or aspect. Are you playing from an album or folder? What is the exact error message you see? Possible to get your server logs and android logs?
I’ll get a message “Selected Media cannot be played” or similar - and the circle indicating loading spins endlessly - I left it on one video last night for a good 20 minutes- and it continued to spin.
These errors occur in the Photos folder. Sub folders - Recommended>Recent Albums, Recently Favorited, and also the two folders for Years.
Similar issue in Timeline folder as well.
Basically, if the videos are in the Photos section, they won’t play.
However, if I go to the Home folder, and select Recently Added Videos, the same video that wouldn’t play in Photos - will play fine there.
It’s the same exact issue that plagued Android users a number of months ago - I’d posted about it and so did a number of users.
With my Roku - all videos play fine. No issues. It’s just Android devices
I restarted Plex server, and then tried to play two different videos on the Channel Master - both failed. I then downloaded the logs and attached - hopefully that helps.
