Have you already tried this file name?
Batman: The Dark Knight Returns (2013) deluxe edition {tmdb-472027}.mkv
! After renaming it, perform the complete Plex Dance with the file.
I had not tried that, but I just tried a different iteration (noting that, although the underlying FS is btrfs
for where this is stored, :
is an invalid character in the scope of Windows which I use to manage everything - thus I cannot use such a name explicitly). I removed the file from the directory, deleted it from the library, removed trash, cleaned bundles, renamed the file and appended {tmdb-472027}
to it’s end before the extension, and this unfortunately still produced the same result.
If that doesn’t help, your only other chance is to add it as an Edition of part 1, then edit the title and description accordingly by hand.

It seems that this will be the means I need to employ in order to have this as a separate item in the Plex library. Unfortunate, but it wouldn’t be the first time I’ve needed to employ some jank in order for things to be separate.
That’s because it is not a separate movie per se. Many movie databases don’t even have this version listed.
Fascinating. For reference (though I doubt it helps here), this is the blu-ray that I ripped it from:
