This movie is not to be found on IMDb. So it doesn’t exist (for Plex).
Neither as “Takt og Tone i Himmelsengen” nor as “1001 Danish Delights”.
@OttoKerner I disagree. See above
Ah, I had an idea to try to just input the imdb id into the search box, and then it found the movie. So it is successfully matched now. Strange that I couldn’t find it by searching for name.
Another strange thing: In the search results, it shows up with danish metadata and title (since the library is set up for danish). But after matching, it gets the english title and description.
Other movies in the same library correctly show the danish title and description.
It could have something to do with the age certification. It is rated X in the U.S. which would prevent it from getting matched, unless you have “Include adult content” enabled. (Which is not what you want to do, if you don’t have a library with actual pr0n in it.)
Edit the movie and look on the Advanced tab if the metadata language has been set to English, instead of “library default”.
Do also check if your file has embedded metadata in English, which could be used preferably if you have “prefer local metadata” activated in the library properties.
Thank you, allowing adult content did indeed make it show up in search results.
And your tip about metadata language was also very helpful, thank you.
Hey Otto! I have a similar question, and you seem to be the guy with the answers!
I own “Batman: The Dark Knight Returns.” The film was originally released in two parts, and then released again as one deluxe movie. IMDB only lists the individual parts, but TVDB and TMDB list the individual parts and the complete film (see image below).
The Plex Movie agent will only return Part 1 or Part 2 as possible matches, and gives no option for the complete film. Is there any way to force it to match to the TVBD or TMDB, or am I just hosed because it doesn’t exist on IMDB?
Thanks!
Since IMDb only has the individual parts, going for the unified version will give you trouble.
You can try and use the TMDB ID in the Fix Match dialog. But if that fails, I’d say match it to part one and edit the title to reflect that the file is actually both parts.
Thanks for the suggestion!
Unfortunately the TMDB ID didn’t work, so I just matched it to one of the parts and manually changed the title & poster to reflect what the movie really is.
The funny thing is, I put this movie in my library months ago, and I swear it was matched to the complete movie then. Not sure if I’m misremembering, or something changed with the Plex Movie Agent.
Either way, thanks for your assistance!
@OttoKerner This is another database entry that needs to be split on the backend.
Plex movie plex://movie/5d7769ac9ab54400214f5333 (Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 2 (2013)) has merged guids when it shouldn’t.

<-- Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 2 (2013)

<-- Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 2 (2013)

<-- Batman: The Dark Knight Returns (2013)

<-- Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 2 (2013)

<-- Batman: The Dark Knight Returns (2013)
So, if I get it right, you’re pointing out that when a item only has details on TMDB and not IMDb, you’d expect it not to appear in Plex agents. However, in reality, many TV shows only have info on TMDB, and Plex agents can still recognize and scrape them. The issue is that these shows don’t seem to show up in Discover or Watchlist. Instead, they end up in the user’s profile’s Watchlist, but trying to open them results in an error. I’m hoping that content exclusive to TMDB can be displayed correctly in all instances since Plex recognizes and scrapes them. Therefore, I think they should also be visible in Discover and Watchlist, given they exist in Plex’s database due to recognition and scraping.
Due to IMDb’s limited language support, it’s easier for us to add content on TMDB. So, we prefer adding information on TMDB rather than IMDb. Consequently, I hope that items exclusive to TMDB can still be recognized correctly by Plex.
This thread is about movies, not tv shows.
Sure, so should I start a new thread to discuss TV-related issues? Because there are some problems with TV shows that only exist on TMDB, for example, they won’t be displayed in the Watchlist.
How does Plex Movie Agent handle mini series that were re-released as a single movie? For example, Halo 4 Forward Unto Dawn. It was a 5 part TV show but also a single full-length movie. The movie shows under specials for the TV series but that seems like a bad way to organize it. Shouldn’t the full-length features be in movies?
Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn (TV Series 2012-2012) — The Movie Database (TMDB) (themoviedb.org)
It is not Plex’s decision. All Plex can do is to rely on the metadata sources. And if these have decided to categorize mini series as such, then They will only get a metadata match if they are added to Plex as a series.
Both TheTVDB and TheMovieDB have their own policies which define how these cases are handled. They both appear to default to the way how the titles were originally aired/streamed. So if it was a mini series first, it will remain as such – even if some other streaming service or TV station decides to reformat them later as a contiguous movie.
