The device does not tune the required channel

Server Version#: 1.19.3.2764
Using XMLTV?: YES

Hello ,

i have another issue since few update… i have this issue :

When i rollback to the version 1.18.7.2457, the issue disappear…

Here’s the log file :

Plex Media Server Logs_2020-05-07_09-31-01.zip (8.2 MB)

The issue appear at 09:29:20.403

Thanks!

The memory allocation failures appear to be a factor and they could be due to the 120Mb xmltv file being used. - Other possibility is that after memory allocation fails, the environment is then unstable and there may be unrecoverable memory and best action would be a restart - or even a reboot.

The last tune failure for tune that started at 09:29:20

We need to get these failures out of the way and then see if there is a tuning issue.

Already tried with the first xml i send you… (70 mb) and same problem… same issue if i reboot… and same issue if i repair or reinstall PMS.

The issue disappear when i use an older version …

I need to see logs of the problem where the logs do not show any memory allocation failures

The issue seems to be resolved…

I rescan the channels on each tuner and one tuner having problem to tune some channel …

thanks!

The issue is still there sa2000 …

Even if i have a little xml …

here’s the log Plex Media Server Logs_2020-06-08_16-41-39.zip (8.7 MB)

The error is at 16:40

thanks for your help

i will send log from the old PMS to see the difference

If i rollback to the version 1.14…7.2457 i have no issue

There are thousands of memory allocation failures for the thread trying to do the tune.

We cannot at the moment handle large xmltv files - despite the recent fixes, we still cannot cope with some of the large xmltv files

So please switch to a different xmltv file until this issue is addressed

Can only investigate tuning issues where we are free from other issues - like running out memory

The errors go back to before this time
eg

Jun 08, 2020 11:37:57.148 [8308] ERROR - Error parsing XML: bad allocation.
Jun 08, 2020 11:37:57.148 [8308] DEBUG - EPG[xmltv]: failed to retrieve channel information during guide refresh
Jun 08, 2020 11:37:57.148 [8308] WARN - EPG[xmltv]: Failed to load EPG.

But if i rollback to an older version… i have no issue with the same xmltv file… what’s happen since 1.14.7.2457?

Thanks!

well - a lot changed !

if you get logs from that for a refresh EPG with that xmltv and and then later logs for tune for that channel - i can compare. and let me have this xmltv file as well

Ok i will give you theses logs in a few days…

thanks

Here’s the log

PlexMediaServer-1.18.7.2457 : Plex Media Server Logs_2020-06-16_09-09-47.zip (8.4 MB)

PlexMediaServer-1.19.4.2935

Just after a refresh : Plex Media Server Logs_2020-06-16_09-40-59.zip (6.6 MB)

With the error when i tune a channel : Plex Media Server Logs_2020-06-16_13-45-50.zip (7.6 MB)

Thanks!

Thank you and please i need the exact xmltv file used in those 1.18.7 and 1.19.4 tests

XML : https://1drv.ms/u/s!AlCpKPlkc5zVgtJLNi5CKp5wyHbhtw?e=TKyhdr

Thanks - i do not have an EPG refresh for 1.18.7 within the provided logs
All i have for 1.18.7 are tunes for channels 519, 516, 866 and 507 with 507 failing but the others not.

For 1.19.4 I have tunes for 519 and 524 - i have not spotted an error yet relating to those 2 tunes.

Here’s the log for the refresh of the version 1.18.7

Plex Media Server Logs_2020-06-21_15-52-05.zip (8.2 MB)

Need something else sa2000?
thanks!

Thanks for the logs. I have passed them on to the development team
Might be an idea to refresh the xmltv file that we have periodically as data becomes out of date

Thanks again for your help!

It’s always a pleasure to work with you!
