Shortly after creating my Server and watching Sonic Underground, I noticed that the Ordering of the Episodes is completely off. I looked into it and found out that the TVDB had sorted it wrong. So I reordered everything and waited a few days, while always updating Metadata and searching through my Library. Sadly, the Episodes are still not sorted yet and not even an Update fixed that. Can something be done about this?
How did you go about this?
At first I went and tried to reorder them in my personal Plex Library, by copying the release dates, episode names and descriptions and marking them all with a Lock. But I accidentally reset that through a mistake, so I went to check the Agents Plex uses.
After getting into the TVDB, I looked at a few different sources for the Episode Order. While some also listed them by release date, most sorted them Chronologically.
So I changed the Episode placement of all misplaced episodes, by editing the Episode number to a new one and then saving it.
Does that mean that your episode numbers are now following one of the episode orderings on either TMDB or TheTVDB?
If so, you only need to tell Plex which ordering to use.
Edit the show at its top level,
go to the Advanced tab
select the appropriate “Episode ordering”
Save Changes
Now Refresh Metadata of the whole show.
