No seriously it’s terrible.
The most useful action set to the worse keys and the almost useless actions set to the most useful keys.
Also it not even close to the standard which you actually need to learn how to use them.
You cant expect that people learn how to use your program it should come naturally.
And if I (really tech-savvy dude) need to learn how to use hotkeys in Plex thats mean that something is really messed up with it.
I’ll skip navigation and actions since none use them.
Hotkeys for the player are most important.
This is the main issue with the PC version of Plex:
, or shift + ← - Seek Backward (10 seconds)
. or shift + → - Seek Forward (30 seconds)
← or step_backward - Skip to Previous Item
→ or step_forward - Skip to Next Item
Everyone use the left and the right arrows to skip forward or backwards, None use them to skip episodes or movies.
You just need to flip those 2.
They are literally the second most important keys…
Now for the TV version, I use the TVOS\WebOS version on my LG TV so I don’t know if it’s like this on other TVs.
The arrow up is set to skip forward (probably 30 sec) while the arrow down use to skip backward (probably 10 sec).
Arrow up should be use to bring up the player control like it does with literally every app that I know of on TVOS\WebOS, also it make sense.
And the arrow down should be use to manually hide the player controls.
Next, Arrow right and left is set to skip 10 min forward and backward, they should be switched with arrow up and down (30 sec forward, 10 sec backward).
Next, The select button, it should be used to pause and play, currently it does nothing and only use to click on stuff.
The ones that I skipped are fine or too useless to even care about them.
Please fix the keys above and use more standard hotkeys next time, Especially for the player.
And also consider to give us the option to set custom hotkeys.
