The internal Plex app (Android TV) always transcodes 4K sources on the HP Omen 32x

Server Version#: 1.42.2
Player Version#: 10.30.6.4151

I’ve got an HP Omen 32x monitor with Android TV 14. I just installed the Plex app to watch my movies and other content. Once I realized I can’t watch them in 4K because of transcoding to 1080p. However, if I connect an external player (e.g., Shield TV Pro), everything is fine.

The reason for the transcoding, according to the player/server: “resolution or bitrate exceeds maximum allowed”. It’s strange because everything is on the same local network, and the server recognizes the player is on the local network (checked on Plex Dash). All settings of the local play are at maximum (quality, quantity, etc.).

I tried a full HD movie coded in HEVC; maybe it’s an issue with HEVC decoding, but it worked well.
I’ve installed KODI, and it plays all 4K movies (DV and normal HDR) without any issues.
Probably, Plex recognises the capability of the HP Omen 32x wrongly.

Remarks:
All apps and programs are on the latest version (incl. firmware of the Omen 32x).
The situation is the same for the wifi and LAN connections. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the Plex app on Omen 32x.

Any ideas?

Thanks

F.
