Regarding the new app (which is a steaming pile of trash)
I run a wireguard VPN from my mobile devices to my home network. This has always worked without issues.
Now, the new app, when connected over the VPN cannot play back videos. I can connect to my plex server via the browser. I can browse in the app, I just cannot play videos.
I have paid for a premium subscription for a long time, and the continued enshittification is exhausting.
most likely they are trying to make sure you can’t bypass the remote pass stuff by using a VPN.
I have a full blown plex pass.
I use WireGuard.
My mobile phone & tablet are assigned IP addresses on the LAN subnet.
(nothing complex here with VLANs or multiple subnets)

I’ve always found Wireguard great and reliable. The Not-So-Reliable part has been whichever cellular tower I happen to be connected to.

2- Don’t know - This is an unraid server.
On mobile over my VPN I can navigate to the plex web interface and play videos just fine
I can also download episodes over VPN
We don’t want you to fix this version. Re-release the Jan 2025 version of 8.x. Any work you do on this is polishing a turd.
I cannot replicate using my wireguard. (server and wg clients on same subnet).
I am out for remainder of week. I will ask others to take over in my absence
The logs you provided didn’t capture the failure (that I could find).
If in the ZIP, can you point it out please ?
