The Snowtown Murders

Grim!
The Snowtown Murders refer to Australia's worst serial killing spree in the late 1990's. The film is based on a couple of books but from what I can tell is a pretty faithful retelling of events that took place.

Like a lot of serial killers, the protagonists in question come from a background of crime, poverty and lack of opportunity which build to create the monsters they turn into. The acting in this is fantastic and the suspense builds like a slow pressure cooker. The main character, Jaime, is an unfortunate soul as his strength of character does not allow him to break free from the nightmare that awaits him as he is slowly implicated by the "friendly" older father like figure who comes into his life.

The movie is gritty, sombre and very well acted. You really feel like it is the 90's and everything is convincing about it.

I dont want to say too much more as it is better to see it as blind as possible so as to enjoy it. It is violent both graphically and emotionally so don't expect a sunday drive ride.

That said, definitely worth to check out and what it.

I apologize to Pioneer, I deleted this thread accidentally while cleaning out forum spam this morning, before having enough coffee. The original posting and text is his, not mine.

This is a pretty dark film.

It’s definitely not something i’d watch again, but it was an experience to go through. Especially since it’s based on true events, which makes it all the more chilling.

It just builds on desperation and suppressed terror and i felt so sorry for the son who couldn’t get out of the spiraling ride to hell once it really took the plunge.

Yeah, not sure i’d heartily recommend this one, but as everything that has really happened it deserves the attention if you can stomach it. Wonderfully acted as well.

Chilling is the word. The fact it is a true story is what I think gives it that truly dark appeal. If you like dark movies I would recommend it.

Didn't finish this film. It's not that it was too dark. It was one of those movies that goes for bleak realism, and leaves you feeling kind of bored, like real life does.
