i’m having an issue. ive added a whole season of dragon ball english dub on my local server added from my desktop. the first 3 episodes played properly streaming it, but when i’m playing the 4th episode it doesn’t actually play the fourth episode from the series but another episode which comes far later in the season. i’ve deleted it and downloaded the series again and added it again from my desktop to my server. but i still have the same problem it won’t play every episode with the information that is given by plex also it remembers its history. How do I erase this and change this ?
If you mean adjust the timing of subtitles, I’m not aware of a way to do that within Plex. Subtitle Edit is a good, free subtitle editor that can adjust subtitle timing.
Check out the Using Subtitles section in the Media Prep guidelines (linked in earlier post).
Plex has a new on-demand subtitle search feature for downloading subtitles from the Internet.
If you already have external subtitle files they must be named in a specific manner (ex: Dragon Ball - s01e01.eng.srt), and placed in the same folder as the episode. See the “Adding Local Subtitles…” section of the docs.
If you place the subtitles as outlined by @FordGuy61 then you will be able to select them before/while you play your movies.
If on the other hand you are looking for a way to “hard-encode” subtitles into the video stream of the file then you will need a program to encode them. Plex can not encode. Remember though. hard subs are permanently part of the video stream and can’t be selected/unselected once encoded. They will always be displayed.
If you want to mux them into say, an MKV file then use MKVToolNix
