Mac Platform, Apple TV, Kep getting this message’ There are no items in this library…’ or that it won’t play on my Apple TV and I can’t locate any assistance from the company selling this ‘product’. I can only find numerous people with the same problem and no resolution…
So I removed the program and re installed and all the movies I originally loaded have disappeared from my external hard drive as well.
There was no warning and I must say I’m completely disappointed with this!
How are your external drives mounted? Can PMS read them or did you let the OS default it so that only you can read them?
IF PMS can’t read them, it can’t play them. You will see many posts on the forum where we speak of “Permissions problems”.
While you own a Mac, (which has its origins in Unix like Linux), read the Linux Tips http://forums.plex.tv/categories/linux-tips
After this, if you still can’t resolve it, Please do a "Settings - Server - Help - Download Logs, attach the ZIP file here with your next post, and we’ll take a look at what it’s complaining at.
PS: If you ask for help first rather than wording you OP as you did above, you’ll find a VERY friendly and helpful bunch of people here.
if you files are not named correctly or unsupported file types they will not show up.
instructions for preparing naming for files of different types up are listed here https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/categories/200028098-Media-Preparation
plex does not alter original files. unless you specifically enabled the delete option for individual items and specifically choose to delete them
