I’m hoping someone can shed some light on this as I have been tearing my hair out on it:
I am running PMS on Nvidia Shield TV which is hard wired to my network Switch along with a server running FreeNAS.
FreeNas contains all of my media files and for some time my system has been working well with Nvidia Shield mounted to my NAS via SMB allowing PMS to add the files from my NAS into my library.
All of a sudden however my Plex libraries are showing “There are no items in this library”.
I have tried deleting and re-creating them and in the settings they can see the folders on my NAS however Plex scan’s and finds nothing.
I have done a huge amount of Trial and Error from rolling back an update on my NAS to doing a total hard reset on my Nvidia Shield and re-installing PMS etc. and I have the same issue.
Separately I have installed PMS on my Mac as a test which is also connected to my NAS via SMB and that is updating the libraries perfectly.
Hopefully thats enough to go on but can pull out logs etc. if needs be.
For the record I eventually plan on building a server which would run Plex on Windows / Ubuntu however the Shield seemed a good and fairly low cost temporary way of running Plex and supporting 4K content.
I found PMS on the shield very unreliable so i disabled it. The player works on shield but had to give up on the server. It would work for a few weeks then lose things like you say. Re-install then loses playlists and there is no backup/restore option to get them back.
The plex server running on freenas is so much better. Is your freenas powerful enough to run PMS?
What version of PMS do you have installed? I had some similar experiences when I first set my server up with the pre-installed version on the Shield. Anyways, I subscribed to Beta on the Android Store, reinstalled, and then it works! Just make sure you change to Beta in the web interface as well.

Good idea, I tried so now on Server version (1.12.2.4929) however unfortunately I still have the same issue.
Your logs indicate a problem I’ve seen before but haven’t figured out the cause. When adding new media, PMS gets a timestamp from the Shield so it can record when the changes were made. Somehow, PMS is not able to get this time so adding the entry to your database fails.
Anyone figured out what the fix is for this yet? Have the same problem on my Nvidia Shield running PMS. It started with new items, and to try to fix it I deleted my TV and Movies library, now I have nothing in either library although when I scan, I can see it scanning the files, and I can view by folder, but its like Plex is not seeing the file.
As per the other threads, the latest update of Plex Media Server seems to be the culprit behind not having the ability to add/update your libraries. Hoping we hear something soon.
