There was a transcoder error

I’ve tried to record a programme last night but it failed with “There was a transcoder error”.

The details of the recording schedule showed:

GoodFellas
AIRED Yesterday at 22:05 on 117 ITV4
Recording starts 5 min early—Ends 5 min late
VIDEO SD

PMS log shows:

Nov 13, 2018 22:00:01.007 [0x70000d9c3000] ERROR - DVR:Recorder: Part didn't have an audio or a video stream.
Nov 13, 2018 22:00:01.007 [0x70000d9c3000] ERROR - DVR:Recorder: Error 12 (There was a transcoder error) starting the record, shutting things down.

BTW, recordings have been working fine without issues for some time now. I noticed that when trying to watch live TV today I was getting “Playback errors” on most channels. I rebooted my Mac mini and since then live TV is working again. Not sure if this was related to the failed recording night.

Had another failed recording yesterday - this time from channel ITV+1; I was able to record the remainder of the programme using a PMS hosted on my Synology DS718+ NAS. The NAS-hosted PMS is version 1.13.9.5439-7303bc002, i.e. it’s not far behind the mini-hosted PMS.

I’m able to provide full sets of logs from both mini and NAS PMS.

It’s really unfortunate that as a paying customer you get a big nothing in response.
