I have recently been getting “There was a transcoder error” for a episode I am recording.
I have a homerunHD duo (2 tuners). I have a recording 19:30 - 20:00 on BBC1 and 19:30 - 20:00 on ITV. Both of these record OK. I then have a recording set for 20:00 - 21:00 on ITV (Program after), this is the one I get the transcode error on. Has anyone else experienced this? Why would it always do this on the recording after?
Any suggestions welcome
Thanks
Scott

What platform is your Plex server running on? (e.g. win, linux, nas, etc). Also, debug level logs covering the time of the failure recording would be very helpful.
That being said, when I get recording errors the first thing I try is to delete the codecs. Plex server will re-download the codecs as needed, and over the years several times this has resolved recording issues for me. Without knowing platform I can’t be specific, but the general process is:
Stop your Plex server process.
Find your Plex server data directory. There should be a “Codecs” subdirectory in your Plex server data directory.
Remove everything from this “Codecs” directory except for the “.device_id” file. If you choose you can move these files to another (backup) location instead of deleting, but the end result it that the “Codecs” directory should only have the “.device_id” file in it.
