Transcoder Errors - Moving back to NextPVR w/ Schedules Direct

I have a Plex lifetime subscription, but I have decided to abandon Plex as my PVR/DVR solution after several issues the past week that have really been occurring for almost a year now. ION television tends to show several episodes of a series back to back, and when the series episodes I record are on, it does not record full episodes ~10-20% of the time. I tracked it down to transcoder errors last night, and I have seen similar issues in previous posts that went unfixed.

The other issue I often have is if a recording fails due to a signal drop or transcoder error, Plex will hold onto that tuner. With four tuners available, I will often see three tuners still in use for episodes that should have completed several hours ago. HDHomeRun shows only one tuner in use, but Plex believes there are no tuners available and will fail to record beginnings of episodes because the one tuner was recording an overlap period.

I have attached a log file to see if Plex will provide any support for my issue. In the attached log file, the relevant recording is “Blue Bloods - E10 - Fathers and Sons” where several transcoder errors occur. Namely:

I have checked my antenna to see if a signal issue occurred during the transcoder errors, but I do not see any issues in the signal when I watch on HDHomeRun or NextPVR, hence why I am choosing to return to NextPVR for my television needs.

Is there any other information I can provide to help sort out these transcoder errors? If it helps, I am running HDHomeRun Quatro with the latest firmware: Version 20210624. Also, let’s assume that this is due to a bad signal, so the transcoder is failing to find a good stream of data to create the file. Why can’t it handle that differently, e.g. by filling missing segments with empty bytes?

I have seen several video editing solutions handle bad video the same way. I suspect that is how NextPVR’s transcoder handles similar issues since some of those videos sometimes have pixelated fluctuations due to a bad digital signal with black video in between the bad and good segments. Those segments are generally pretty short, and the streaming recovers much more robustly than Plex’s system does for some reason.
