There was an error signing in

first screen… please sign in…
second screen thanks you have been successfully signed in
third screen There was an error signing in

I’ve been trying to solve this exact problem as well…
Please follow up, if you find a solution.
Thx!!

same problem here, started after the last update

Same problem, since last update too.
No error found in log.

Sign in is OK after 5 or 6 trials, only clicking the “Sign In” button again and again.

Wrong menu, I have this issue on NAS

Same problem here BUT: If, after receiving the ‘error signing in’ I try it again, it will sign me in correctly. Thus:
"first screen… please sign in…
second screen thanks you have been successfully signed in
third screen “There was an error signing in”
Fourth screen correctly signs into http://127.0.0.1:32400/web/index.html# and everything works as it should

Same issue here, but it doesn’t matter how many times I click on the Sign In button again. Still the same error.
Would be nice to hear something about this from Plex.

I have had this issue as well for several months now and even a reinstall did not help. Any ideas?

Has anyone solved this mystery? Wouldn’t it be nice if Plex joined in the conversation?

I too am having the same issue. I guess no one has found an answer yet. My head hurts from banging it on the wall trying to figure this out!

I tried what TheAncient said and it works!

I had the same problem. Now I use Firefox and it works…after the second click…

MS browser had been working fine with PLEX until yesterday when I got the same “Error signing in” message. Multiple tries to sign in did nothing. PLEX – what did you change recently?? Don’t say “nothing”. 35+ years in IT has proven to me that this is almost never true. Go fix the problem you caused.
BTW - I love your product as do the many friends with which I share my PLEX. (Firefox still works fine with PLEX)

I started having the same problem today. Never before…

its the WIN10 browser… I deleted cookies and sign in data and now it works fine

This should be a usable workaround for anyone: try to log in, wait until you get the error message, type _app.plex.tv _into the URL bar, and you should be in.

Whether or not you’re experiencing this has to do with what browser you use to access Plex.

I started using a new browser, and encountered this issue. From checking the console outputs from the two browsers, I can see that there are two js scripts that call getAllResponseHeaders. The browser that throws the login error shows “Refused to get unsafe header “Location”” in the console.

If you watch what happens after you click the button to log in, you’ll see that the URL changes from plex.tv, to your server, and then back again.

I think that because this is a cross site request - from your server to plex.tv - that this actually is not supposed to be a valid request.

It definitely explains how this was introduced with the latest update…

Thanks very much, it worked for me. I think I actually entered this https://app.plex.tv/desktop#.

My solution: go to the browser address bar in Chrome click on Secure then Cookies ensure all are allowed that are associated with Plex or click on Secure/Site settings click on the back arrow next to https://app.plex.tv. Click on Cookies and ensure all are allowed. Hope it helps.

I am able to log into Plex with Firefox and Chrom but not Edge. Puts me into a loop. Just started this morning

This just started happening to me tonight for the first time. MS Edge is default and all updates are applied.
