They are free to contact me and we’ll do a Webex. I can re-create it every 15 seconds.
Anyone can recreate it just by manually scanning libraries. I happens during that process reliably everytime. It’s now a week old and no fix? Then they should roll out an update that reverses whatever changes they made until they can manage to fix it. Anything else is irresponsible.
I actually don’t have the issue.
Also, it can happen without scanning libraries.
I assume this is why they are trying to determine the exact root cause as the issue is not consistent.
I do agree it is taking some time to address.
If you want to reproduce the bug (which I was addressing) on an afflicted machine, a manual scan will trigger it everytime. If they can’t figure it out, the right thing to do is for them (not us) to recall that update and fallback to stable code. That doesn’t take a week. It should have happened by Tuesday.
If only there was a public-facing bug tracker with an issue we could subscribe to for updates.
same problem but windows latest player, I had to disable the scan library but if a show gets added it drops me out of what I’m watching with the playback error, i can’t even look at the dashboard when doing an update as it keeps disappearing
Please fix this.
I am also experiencing this issue on all my non-android players.
Adding this comment hoping to get a reply when its fixed.
There is at least another duplicate thread for this exact same issue (in the same forum no less) MacOS Player Crashes Streams

Experiencing the same issue on my Mac Studio M2 Max…please fix this issue!
I’m getting this on the Windows Plex app on Windows 11.
Same issue. It trips about every 15 minutes. Sometime a little more. I have not tried disabling media scanning and will try that next time I use it. It was working fine before the last update. I am on Version 1.87.2.87-87488d5a
Same issue on all my Windows devices, and disabling auto-scanning actually has not solved it. Does anyone have any other ideas?
So, I been having this issue for the past week or so on my win11 desktop app, where also plex media server is running from.
However, this never happens to streams to other devices, only in my desktop app. And I even saw it happening to me, at the same time as 2 other people used my server, 1 direct play and 1 transcode, and neither of their streams was affected, only my desktop app.
Have turned off “Scan my library automatically” and will see if that fixes the issue, however if the issue was on the plex server, why would it only affect me and not others using my server?![]()
As far as I know, this only happens on Plex Web, and the apps that wrap around Plex Web… which both Windows and Max players app do (they are wrappers for Plex Web).
The issue does not happen on Apple TV’s Plex app (probably because it’s native, and not a Plex Web wrapper).
Create a guest profile and watch from it. It appears to only effect server admins as none of my users are impacted by this except myself. I logged into my kid’s profile and had no issues.
edit: obviously just a workaround until it’s patched, if plex ever addresses it seeing we’re going on almost 2 weeks with no comms sent out.
Known problem with Plex Web & Plex Desktop. Fix expected this week (soon

Thanks for the suggestion. This unfortunately did not work for me… oddly on 2 of my machines at the moment turning off auto scanning seems to have made a difference, while on 2 others the issue remains. But at any rate it looks like a fix is coming.
Waiting for that 'sometime next week" fix to arrive. It’s next week. ![]()
