Unexpected error during playback. Please visit our forums

Server Version#: 1.40.0.7998
Player Version#: 4.124.1

Usually watch Plex (Windows server) via Chrome just fine. Within the last week I’ve noticed it randomly having issues stating “There was an unexpected error during playback. Please visit our forums if you continue to experience problems.” I’m at a complete loss, haven’t run into anything this inconsistent before. Help me forum-wan Kenobi. You’re my only hope.

I’ve also been getting tons of “Unexpected error during playback” recently. Client is on a Macbook, server is on a Windows machine. Error pops up every few minutes, then I “resume”, and it goes on again for a few minutes before error pops up again.

Might want to try this.

Log out of your account from your clients, then logout your account of your server. Then log back in to the server first to force a re-authentication on your server and then log back in to your clients.

I have gotten this type of error in the past usually after a recent server update. Give that a try, and post back.

This did not help unfortunately. I can’t even just leave something paused it’ll still have that timeout and close the video.

You have to turn off all automatic scanning in settings>library and it will solve it.

I can’t believe this is an issue that has not been fixed yet but here we are.

I used to be able to play music from my server remotely using Chrome prior to the latest server update without incident. This issue has only started occurring after the update, and I’m curious why the automatic scanning function would cause this to happen. I’m giving @Franks-Flix’s suggestion a try to see it solves the issue.

I’m testing these settings one at a time to see if they improve the situation. It does make me wonder if this is somehow related to content ingestion? New things getting copied to the server somehow dragging down the disk with the source files and then that kills the stream? I’ve not had any users on my server report this issue so it feels really strange it would only affect me but…

Either way. Will report back with how the setting changes go.

I’m also here for the same reason. logging out and back in did not help. I’m giving @Franks-Flix a try

I don’t have automatic scanning on and I’ve been getting this error for a while now.

After the upgrade I have the same error.

That is, after turning on the plex application on (two windows clients), I get an error asking me to visit your forum
