Hi gang, having a bunch of problems that have to be related.

Synology 1520+ with PMS running on it, also hosting 15TB worth of media
Synology 415+ attached as a mapped folder with additional 2 TB of media.

Verizon Fios with G3100 router

ive followed the online guides and set up a certificate but not sure if it’s working correctly

When i run plex in Firefox or Chrome on my desktop i’m using the IP address (http://192.168.1.xxx:32400/web/index.html#!/) and it shows that the connection is not secure.
if i run app.plex.tv and log in that way then it says it is secure
connecting to my router 192.168.1.1 says not secure as well

i think i have the correct ports forwarded on my router, but not sure (80, 32400)

i connect to a friend’s Plex and my connectivity is capped at 2MBps, says i’m not connected directly

its a lot to dump into one post but looking for some guidance as i’m running out of resources to get this fixed

Do you mean your own security certificate? Please note that security certificates work for a specific web address, which is the same way the one from Plex works. Using app.plex.tv forwards the connection to the special xxxx.plex.direct address that the certificate is issued for. When using your local IP, that address isn’t what’s assigned to the certificate so you get an insecure connection. This is expected.

Has your friend setup remote access properly? Plex provides an alternative connection method called Relay (with bandwidth limits) when remote access isn’t working. This is what you are seeing.
