Hi,

I’m trying to play a web show from the plex dashboard casting to a chromecast

If i run this through the latest android app I get an error that says i need to restart the plex app and the plex server and I can’t play anything else i can navigate but it never completes starting normal episodes after this error

If i cast from Chrome (71.0.3578.80) on the same pc as the plex media server to the chromecast I get the error
This content is not currently supported when connected to this remote player.

This seems to be the case for all web shows

I can play the webshows in Chrome through plex fine just not when casting or when using the Android app and casting

What is going on how can I fix this?

You might might want to try the ‘hosted’ web app: app.plex.tv

Not quite sure how that is relevant to a crash in Android Plex app when casting and an error in the ‘hosted’ web app when casting,

I mentioned casting from the Dashboard in chrome which is the hosted web app shows the actual error unless you have provided the wrong link

In either case it shouldnt break the server when not able to play content through Android app when casting
It does actually require the media server service to be restarted to resume normal operations

Testing this more last night and I can play web shows on Android plex fine just not when casting to the chromecast

Sorry, you gave the version number 4.8.4 for the web app, which is not the hosted version.
The Dashboard exists in the local version ( http://127.0.0.1:32400/web ) of the web app as well, so that’s not a way to distinguish the two.
