This new android app is awful, where can I download the previous version?

Subtitles will work fine on my LG tv but they won’t work on my Sony Bravia. Crazy that the make of a tv would change how the app displays on my Samsung phone!

this worked perfectly! no ads, no “trending” ■■■■ on my home screen, readable UI and the features I need. thank you!

and now they don’t work at all, and it is even struggling to find them. It used to be so quick and I could get open source ones for everything. So annoying :frowning:

Will I need to revert the server back to the prior version also?

No, just the client. You can revert the server to a previous build here but it’s not required. Some folks are experiencing bugs in the latest beta build – myself included – so we’ve chosen to revert both client and server.

They are just using us for free “BETA User Testers”

It’s not just bugs, it’s bugs plus the removal of key features. If it were just bugs, we’d wait for the fixes (maybe). At least we wouldn’t feel as bad. And wouldn’t view the “new UI” as some bizarre attack.

Thank you so much for this! My plex is usable again.

I was referring to PMS not the client apps. The bugs on PMS are centered around transcoding and the metadata matching agents.

I tried to revert the server back but in order to do this I have to uninstall and then reinstall. I am worried I will lose all my settings and library setup. Do you know if this will happen? I am on a Synology NAS.

I don’t know Synology, but I found this Reddit thread that might help.

I’ll echo the thanks the others have shared for your post. Successfully downgraded and will stay on this version for as long as is necessary. Cheers!

Lifetime pass, Never before posted to the Plex forums that I recall but making the effort to say THANK YOU jclifton for saving me from the abomination that is the new app. The new one is forcing streaming stuff which I don’t care about in my face and burying my own content behind it (OK, that could be disabled from server but by default, seriously?), subtitles don’t work (to the point that some vobsubs result in playback crashing instantly), tap to FF or RW gone…

This is not what I nor seemingly a lot of people wanted. Did anyone ask for any of these so-called improvements? Were there hordes screaming out for a new UI with a focus on content we have to pay for elsewhere whilst seriously crippling playback of our own media which is what I suspect the vast majority bought into Plex for in the first place? Terrible.

Looking for alternatives now, my only regret is that I bought lifetime years ago, so me ditching this product will in no way be noticeable to Plex. At least if I was monthly I’d make an insignificant but symbolic dent in profits!

Glad to help! Hopefully Plex gets the message that it’s core user base hates these changes. Until they do (or even if they don’t) I’ll keep trying to help everyone get back to a decent version.

That’s the thing - they had months of preview testing with regular feedback from users and decided to release it in this state anyway. It beggars belief.
