Thumb view similar to jellyfin

Jellyfin has several different library view options and I would love if plex would implement similar options even if plex doesn’t want to support pulling the various different types of images themselves through their scanner.

There is no reason for plex to be losing to Jellyfin in this regard. Certain types of media would function better if you could view them in your library as a thumbnail view rather than a movie poster format.

If this feature already exists but requires some hidden functionality (only a certain library type or media format) then it should be changed to allow thumbnail view on a collection level and library level (change view on the fly would be great)

“Make it look like X” makes it hard to follow-up on a suggestion. Would you mind clarifying which exact feature you’re asking for? At least it’s not clear to me…

Reading between the lines it sounds like you’re asking for an option to either have a separate display mode where the regular poster is replaced by a movie’s thumb/background artwork – or an option to configure per library what format of posters it should display (e.g. 2:3 posters or 16:9/4:3 thumbs)?

There’s already a number of feature suggestions discussing such options, e.g.

Jellyfin has a toggle at the top of every “page” (collections and library view and be changed independently of each other) to change the view from the poster style that plex uses to a “Thumb” view which is a 16:9 image.

I love this feature of jellyfin and it makes libraries of certain types to be more pleasing to browse and allows more user customization which is never a bad thing.

In that case I suggest you comment/vote in one of the existing feature suggestions above (e.g. in order to help us avoid distracting or cannibalizing votes by having duplicate suggestions).
