Thumbnail image gereration of DVR content

I am recording Star Trek and for the most part the thumbnail image is accurate. I do have from time to time where the image has been grabbed from a commercial for an episode.

How do to I resolve this?
I have tried to refresh meta data. I have tried to analyze. Plex Media Scanner shows the option for --index which is Deprecated. And I am sure I am using --generate wrong. Nor can I figure out how to get the video ID.

The current doc seems to be a bit over a year old and I am having no luck with the commands. I enter the command with a return to the linux prompt and no action.

What can I do to resolve this?

Open the episode in VLC and capture a new thumbnail with that.

I must say, its sad that I am unable to use a plex provided utility such as the Plex Media Scanner described in the plex provided documentation to generate a replacement image.

I would think play the video in the web view, pause to scene, right click, make thumbnail.

I guess I need to down load VLC.
