Tidal album added to plexamp library shows as AAC 320 not FLAC

I’m observing same issue described in prior/closed topic below

I’m running plexamp 4.2.2 on windows, mac, ios, and raspberry pi
plex server on windows 1.27.1.5916
existing tidal hifi subscription transferred to billing thru plex

I’m assuming it is NOT expected to have Tidal albums limited to AAC 320 when they are saved to the plex library … please let me know if this is expected behavior and documented somewhere

If further debug is needed, please let me know which logs are of interest and I’ll post.

Some screenshots of observations below …

When viewing an album in the Tidal library, the format will show as FLAC 44/16 …

(and if played from the Tidal library, now playing indicates FLAC and 44/16 as expected)

After adding the Tidal album to my plex library, the format in my library will show as AAC 320 …

When I then play a track from the album saved in my plex library, the format is listed as FLAC, but it’s blank where the sample rate and bit depth are normally listed …

But if I look at the plex server dashboard, it indicates AAC …

I’m looking at plexamp network traffic in the windows resource monitor while playing a Tidal album

comparing what it looks like when it’s saved to my plex library (labeled as AAC 320) vs when playback is started from Tidal library (labeled as FLAC 44/16)

in both cases, data transfer rate and total download time is about the same, and it appears to be consistent with typical size of FLAC files

does this mean Tidal is always playing FLAC 44/16 as expected, but maybe just the data/labeling isn’t showing up correctly in plexamp when it’s saved to the plex library?

I’m experiencing the same issue with Plexamp 4.2.2 on Linux.
