I got a Tidal subscription to try it out with Plexamp. I was hoping there was some feature like in Apple Music (autoplay) or Roon (Roon radio) that autoplays music from my library and Tidal based on a song/artist/album.
I can kind of get this to work on an Artist station - after 10 songs or so, Plexamp starts mixing in some Tidal music. Actually, it appears to completely switch over to Tidal. Is there anyway to adjust the Tidal/Plex library mix? Ideally I could do a track station from Plexamp, and Plexamp would intersperse library songs based on Sonic Analysis data and Tidal songs based off of whatever is the appropriate criteria.
What are the available options for mixing Tidal music into my queue?
It usually only mixes in some small fraction of TIDAL, but if you don’t have enough similar artists in your own library, that’s the behavior you’ll see.
Oh okay. Seems strange that somehow I don’t have enough similar artists… So it’s normal to get 10-15 tracks from your own library, and then straight Tidal tracks after that? I was hoping for more variety.
Is an artist station the only way you get any Tidal tracks mixed in?
It depends on what is in your library.
If you have a lot of artists in your personal library which are similar, then you’ll have to wait longer for Tidal content to appear.
But if the artist you were starting with is a “snowflake” in your library, then you will get to the Tidal content earlier. Simply because there are only few (or no) similar artists in your personal library, so there is nothing to play which matches the “start artist”.
Ok I see. I was getting a bunch of suggestions from my library first because I have many similar artists. I tried it on some other artists that are more unique in my library and immediately got Tidal mixed in.
