Tidal Music

When I try to play a lot of the Tidal music, Plex says it is unavailable. I am a Tidal paid member. Anyone have any ideas how to fix it?

Some Tidal content may be geo restricted. If our app is showing these, let me know some examples so we can look into it. You can check if this is the case by looking at the Tidal app directly and seeing if you can find these items there. If they are there, then they should work in Plex. If you can’t find them, then it’s the restriction.

It seems to happen with nearly every playlist (some tracks play, some don’t) and many albums will play some tracks and not others. What’s the point of paying for Tidal through Plex and then have half the music not play. I will start listening for music that does not play and add a list soon.

It would also help if you can grab the log from the client when this happens.

Here is an example “The Goons: The Complete Classic Radio Shows”. None of the tracks will play (tried a few at random). I get this error code s3016 (media). Where do I find the log and how do I send it to you. From memory the error code is always the same

Just a bit more information. I can play all the tracks that don’t work in Plex, if I play direct from the Tidal app.

Is this the group? I’m not able to find that album. There have been some reports of content missing, this might be the case.

Sorry, I put in a request to look into why you get different results, but I hadn’t heard back from that team. Let ignore that for now and assume these albums are correct. Can you try playing back one of these tracks again and then get me the log from the client you are using?

I had a similar problem to the one you described where Tidal just stopped working in Plex. It appears that my Tidal account had become unlinked. If you sign into Plex and then select your icon and “Account”, in the upper right you will see a link for “other services”. Click that and make sure your Tidal account still says linked. That was my issue,

Thanks for the info, I looked at that, but it is all good. Strangely the name has changed form Tidal to Music?

I’m having the same errors now, whole bunches of albums don’t play through Plex but have no issue when played in the tidal app. It’s very annoying as I signed up for tidal just to use Plexamp, rather than use Spotify.

No one else’s having issues playing albums from Tidal?

Everything is working for me on my end. I have not run into an issue playing any album via Plexamp. Maybe mention some of the albums that you’re having issues with.

I did in another thread but not in this one. Some albums that always fail for me are:
The Menzingers - Hello Exile
Jane’s Addiction - Southern Comfort
Modern Baseball - You’re gonna miss it all.
A bunch of RHCP live albums. I come across quite a lot, but these are the ones I keep testing when I try various methods of fixing (None of which have worked so far)

EDIT: I should say that all these are playable via Tidal app and webpage, but not in any Plex app.

Could it be a country thing? Does Plex block some content for different countries. I live in Australia and I can’t get Crackle on Plex. Does Plex block some music content the same way?

Possibly Plex is doing it own geo-location but tidal is happy to play it here. Also there are tracks/albums that I can’t see at all but people in other countries can, so tidal GL is working for those. It’s annoying because when you click to play an album you have no way of knowing whether it will work or not. What is also strange is that it’s worked before. One of the albums that fails has played, but I don’t see any settings or change I could make that would stop it.
On top of all that there is nothing obvious on the logs.

Got some info. Turns out Tidal does have some restrictions on the content that is available to Plex. Some sort of licensing thing, I don’t have details.

In these cases content available to Tidal

  • will not be shown in Plex
    or
  • shown in Plex but won’t be playable

We are working on that second part, but that first part is out of our hands.

That’s good to know, I thought I was going mad! I have no issue with the content not available just would be nice to have either a better error message or just hide it.
