Tidal Not playing sometimes

image

I get this error when trying to play from Local Plex Web.

Server is 1.18.5.2309

Web version is 4.12.3

and no Tidal is not playing on any other device.

I just tried playing the same song through Plex web (via Plex), it works. The online web version is 4.22.1. (on another point why is Plex web so far behind??0

I’m experiencing the same issue. I can also note that Tidal tracks will not play through plexamp either.

I’m having the same issue.

-I’m using Chrome with PMS v1.18.6.2368.
-I only use Tidal in Plex.
-I never use any other Tidal apps or login to Tidal except with Plex.

Tidal videos will play, but not tracks. I tried un-linking Tidal and Plex and then linking together again, but same issue. I’m a software developer that loves this feature of Plex because I can get tired of my music library pretty quick since I listen to music while working.

I’m on the Beta channel and have installed two updates since this issue started for me, and neither update has fixed the issue… nor did I see anything in the change log that it would, but I thought I should mention.

@elan Is there already a thread for this issue that we should be reading? When I searched for the best thread to track, I only found this and one other. Thank you!

Same issue here. I can play music directly from Tidal app though, but not through Plex. I’m using version 1.18.6.2368

@ejmartin504 Hi, any thoughts or maybe a suggestion of a thread where this issue is being tracked by a Plex employee? Thank you!

Hello,

More to add. In a healthy dose of irony (look at the track name) I’m now also getting this error on some albums on Tidal.

This was trying to be played through the online web interface, not the local web interface.

Come on guys we are paying for the Tidal Subscription, we should be able to access the tracks.

Also have the same issue & same error as the original post. Started over a week ago, so I’m glad to see I’m not the only one. Here’s my stats:

PMS Version 1.18.3.2156 (slightly older, true)
Web Version Version 4.12.3
Using Chrome

Tidal tracks play fine on my iOS devices with the Plex app, but not on the PC web browser. I’m currently logged out of the Tidal.com site on this PC, and not playing any tracks on any other devices.

I didn’t see any obvious errors in the log.

I’m having the same issue, Version 1.18.5.2309 on firefox, edge and different machines. Tidal in Plex worked fine for a long time. An update- or new version problem? Mike@smartvilla

same issue.
Works if you are ussing the app…

I solved this one for my situation, hope the following notes help.

I noticed that my web version of plex would stream Tidal content when I was at work using Chrome or Edge, but still didn’t work from my home computer (on which the Plex server is running).

I found a Plex support article, and I checked my Chrome “content” settings because of this quote:

Note : If you disable DRM support in your browser, you may receive a security warning and/or be unable to play TIDAL content.

Still no luck. Then Then I found this forum thread, which gave me the final clue.
“Your connection to app.plex.tv has to be in https to be able to stream tidal content.”

Final solution:
I had my home Plex web browser pointed to 127.x.x.x:xxxxx/web/index.html, which looked normal, but could not play Tidal content. After I changed the web address to https://app.plex.tv/desktop, Tidal content now works!

Hey @yortdog, thanks for the feedback.

I am using the relayed https://app.plex.tv/desktop version of Plex Web and I’m still seeing the problem. The funny thing is, it only happens on SOME of the content from Tidal, not ALL content. So some songs/albums play fine, but some songs don’t play at all. I’m thinking it may have to do with the streams coming from Tidal all not being in the same format or formed correctly.

@Stephen3001:
I went back & reviewed your problem earlier in this thread. I think this is a separate problem than mine & the original post.

But I’ve seen your problem before, too. In my experience, this Playback Error message is received when Plex can see a specific album in Tidal, but that album does not actually exist on Tidal.com. This explains how sometimes Plex can play Tidal content, and sometimes it can’t. When Plex can’t play Tidal content, go to Tidal.com & double check the album exists there.

It happened to me on this album yesterday. When I search for this artist/album on Plex, it shows up, but when I search for it on Tidal.com, it’s missing.

Just a theory, but I think this also happens when content is removed from Tidal, it can still show up on Plex, but is unplayable.

This theory does have some validity, although it can be quite random in how it shows up.

For example the album I’m trying to play through Plex (added to Music) shows up in the Plex search of Tidal, but looking at Tidal direct, that album does not show up for me. So your theory is proved correct there.

However if I go to Tidal and see an album that also exists in Plex and add that album only some of the tracks are being added. For example on Tidal there is an album that has 16 tracks and I can play any of them. When I browse that album through Plex and check the track listing I only see one track.

I think what we are dealing with here is some sort of geo-blocking happening at both ends of the chain, Plex and Tidal, and rights issues for certain albums and/or tracks. When a track doesn’t play it doesn’t work on any device, web, mobile, shield.

If theres a dev around who can explain this to us it would be most appreciated.

I think this thread is touching on two issues here:

  1. The bundled versions of the Plex Web player that come with PMS don’t support DRM playback so TIDAL will fail here, please use the hosted app at https://app.plex.tv/desktop

  2. The discrepencies of available items between the official TIDAL app and Plex is something we’re working to minimize. If you see this or a specific item just doesn’t play please report this in the forum so we can take a look.

Is this because of rights issues in different locations in the world?

These two albums are listed as being on Tidal in Plex, but will not play:-

This album was added to Plex Music from Tidal but will not Play: -

I will add more in this thread as I find them

As an update, with the latest version of plex media server (I run the linux .deb) tidal playback through the local server address and plexamp works again.

Many thanks to whomsoever tackled this issue!

Unfortunately it still does not work for me

Adding another album, currently present on Tidal.com, and will pull into my Plex library, and will play on Tidal.com, but will not play through any of my Plex apps:
