Hi! I recently got a Tidal subscription, but whenever I try to use Tidal on PC through the Windows Plex app, it will only play demos of the songs, even though when I go to settings/subscriptions on the same app, it says I have a tidal subscription.
Tidal seems to work on all other devices I have connected to my account. (Android, and Shield TV, and in web browser).
I have contacted support which gave me these directions, but they did not work:
Just to verify… you’re using the same Plex account when you’re experiencing this in the Plex for Windows client? Apologies if this is too obvious – there’s occasional cases where users work with different accounts and get this mixed up
Hi Yes!
that’s correct. I only have one plex account ever connected to the windows client so there should be no other accounts ever accessed (I’ve only made one account!)
Given you can access Tidal from those other Plex apps, the issue doesn’t seem to be about linking that Tidal account of yours.
I suppose this makes it a problem with that particular app.
You might try if the following actions make any difference…
Restore app defaults This will remove all customizations you made in the app (e.g. pin/unpin libraries, library order in the sidebar), no changes are made to your server… this could help if there’s a glitch with some of those customizations/app settings.
Open Plex for Windows
Go to Settings > Plex for Windows > Debug
Click Restore Defaults
Sign out and back in This might help if there’s some account specific information stuck or not properly propagated. Going through those steps shouldn’t mess with any of your settings.
Open Plex for Windows
Click on the account icon in the top-right corner
Select Sign Out
For good measure… quit the app, wait a moment, restart it
Click on the account icon in the top-right corner
Select Sign In to relink the app with your account
Clear the Plex for Windows app data This might help if your app is dealing with some stale cache that’s causing it to fail reloading your Tidal stuff and status. Doing this will probably also clear/reset your app customizations (same as using Restore Defaults).
Stop Plex for Windows
Find and delete the app’s local data from %LOCALAPPDATA%\Plex\
