Has anyone tried using the timeshifting with LiveTV listed as being available for the Android TV app as of version 6.2 ( and server version 1.7.4)? I can’t seem to get it to work so I’m curious if anyone else has had any luck?
I havent tested it yet, but i dont recall seeing additional buttons last night, maybe i havent updated yet, but will double check tonight.
Im still waiting for live tv to make it to Android Mobile! feels a bit left out of the party, iOS users can use it mobile but not on their apple tv, and android users can watch it on our tvs but not mobile lol!
@jonny15 it would seem that they removed the indication it was coming in 6.2 as 6.2 has been released with no mention of timeshift, and the server release notes have been amended to reflect this also!
I see the server notes were updated as of July 12th…go figure, I opened this thread on July 11th and they do not comment on my post, they just hide because they now see it’s not working.
Funny thing is, I have today’s 6.2 notes in my email before they were amended…
I also have the original 1.7.4 server release notes…
@johnny15 I just got the same email, stating timeshifting and the latest beta. I upgraded to 6.2.0.999 and… Still no time shifting.
Can you explain what’s going on with timeshifting for Android TV?
yep same here. See it in the notes etc… but as of yet, no options when watching TV… Really waiting on this feature too!
Saw it in the notes when I was at work so I tested when I got home. No joy. Maybe next build.
Timeshifting was planned for 6.2, but we want to make sure it’s as awesome as it can be and unfortunately we missed the 6.2 release. Timeshifting should be making it’s way into the 6.3 release, and enabled during the 6.3 beta - though it might not be available at the start of the 6.3 beta.

I agree, thank you for clarifying. A quick follow-up question then… When it comes to timeshifting, where is Plex storing the buffered/cached media? Will there be an option in the settings to control where this cache is located?
I’m contemplating added a second SSD to my Plex server because I’d prefer to not have all these read/writes on my main SSD, my main library is read from a NAS and my DVR content is on an external USB drive hooked to my NAS. None of these are really optimal for timeshifting IMO. I’d like to plan for something better if it’s going to be an option for us.
