Hi,
I find sometimes when refreshing metadata the Title is lost, but the Sort Title still exists. Why is the Sort Title not used for display then?
Thanks!

Sorry, want to make sure I understand your point ⊠:-).
Are you saying that Plex is leaving the Title blank because it is not finding a match?
Thanks!
No. Plex is not finding a match.
Which means, the item is in an âunmatchedâ state.
Which then causes Plex to try again to find a match as soon as a library update is triggered. During this attempt to match the item, manually input metadata are getting erased.
Which means: before you put in metadata manually, youâll have to make sure that the video is no longer in an âunmatchedâ state.
It has to be âmatchedâ to one of the metadata agents. âPersonal Mediaâ is such an agent.
OK, that makes sense, thanks! Whatâs frustrating with this is that I took a file that was recorded (and had all the info correct), removed the commercials, and copied it right back on top (exactly the same name, made sure all date/time information was the same) ⊠but then Plex no longer matches it to the recording info. Not sure why that part happens ⊠:-(.
Thanks!
Yeah this behavior is unfortunate. The thing is: the DVR is using metadata from the EPG.
But if you later add a file manually, Plex cannot use the EPG to match that file. It has to use the default metadata agent for this Plex library. And it might happen that this metadata agent doesnât have data listed for this TV show or movie, or it needs a slightly different file name to correctly match the file.
That makes sense - thanks! Man, I wish I could figure out the âsecret recipeâ, as it is a pain to lose the EPG data, just cleaning up a file. Of course any thoughts on that would be appreciated.
Thanks again for the help!
