Tizen 5.0 update sucks. UI is terrible

Server Version#: 1.16.3.1402
Player Version#: 3.109.2

Tv: Samsung QN65Q70RAFXZA

First off. I have searched and not found anything on the topic. So i apologize if its a dupe of an issue.

Today my wife said “tv is broken”. She meant plex does not work and I cant get to tv shows or movies. We have had this tv for about 2.5 weeks. The plex version that we downloaded was great. Very simple interface. Menu bar across the top for tv shows, movies, ect. Today we got hit with an auto update. It is now a pain in the butt to get to the base list of tv shows or movies. I am not sure if I am missing something? Its now 4 menus deep. Adding more clicks is not better.

Is there a way to down grade to the previous version? Because this one is truly terrible.

Home when app is started:

Second level menu:

Third and sub menu:

It takes some getting used but it’s also customizable which people have been clamoring for.

Review these help documents and see they help:

As @darcilicious said, it takes a little getting used to, but the customizability is awesome!

My only gripes about UNO are:

(1) Would help a LOT of users if they had a better wizard that helped people set it up on first run.

(2) Give robust sync options between devices, and platforms, if desired.

I would just say, give it a chance, set it up, and see what you think.

After doing some digging. Your right i was able to add the list of stuff back to the home screen. Immediately I did not notice the extra … to the left of the menus.

Your right there should have been some sort of tutorial or announcement. Or here is a thought, start the default menu with movies, tv shows, ect. Don’t just show home. If there had been a few other items there then I would have thought how do i add the other. My wife did think it was broken. Which in my book is a fail for the PLEX user experience. Your average users will think its broken. Customization is great, but not having a functional default.

I write software/UI for a living and if I provided this kind of experience at work then my users would crucify me. And they have for less. Just saying previous versions of plex have set higher expectations.

Based on your screen shots I would recommend a plex reset. Once I did that the home was setup with all my libraries. On upgrade my libraries were missing.

The First Run wizard should have shown after the update. It’s the same menu you get when you choose Reset Customizations from the settings menu. I’ll log an internal issue to see why the menu never came up.

Can confirm @OttoKerner’s post above. I have already submitted the release with the fix to Samsung, so hopefully it won’t take too long before it’s available.

Sorry for the late reply. It has been one of those days putting out fires, fortunately not literally. I did try the reset. No Wizard. I have tried Reset Customizations as well. No Wizard. So I may be part of that group that has the known bug.

Not sure if it matters but this server is about 4 years old and has been updated every few months since it was built. Running Ubuntu 16.04 64bit, all the latest updates, Dual Xenon E5504 processors, 16Gb of ram, and 144Tb of SAS attached storage running raid 6. I do have another bug that I had been hunting for a while, I believe it was fixed prior to the tv app issue. I had to hit play on media 3-5 times before it plays. This one was my issue. A problem with my network config and link aggregation of the network cards. 6 Ports aggregated to one IP address. I don’t believe this issue is related to the TV app issues. And I believe I got it fixed just before the TV issue happened. I have not seen it since I made the configuration changes, 2-3 days prior to this bug. Like I said not sure that its relevant.

Thanks for the attention and prompt responses to the matter. I will give it a try again once I see the version number change on the tv. If I can help prevent other users pain I am always glad to help.
