For the past two days, my PMS 1.7.2 server (FreeBSD… 2 HDHR Extends, 1 HDHR Connect and 1 HDHR Dual) has started recording a TON of shows that I couldn’t care less about. I don’t see why they are recording. I can’t seem to see how to stop them. For example, today every news/pseudo-news shows, talk shows, game shows and soap operas were recorded. None of this was scheduled to record. It was about 25-30 items recorded just today! Anyone see this bizarre behavior or know what may be causing it?

NOPE! It does not show anything scheduled to record until it starts recording something. I just counted… 44 items that were not scheduled were recorded. So far today, 17 things have recorded that were not scheduled and have no clue how much more will add themselves to be recorded. At this moment, nothing is scheduled to be recorded tomorrow and one thing on Monday. Last night when I wrote the first note, nothing was scheduled for today, yet 17 things have been recorded. It’s a pain to go and delete all these shows I couldn’t care less about.
Oh man, that sucks. It might be worth deleting your DVR entirely and restarting. I’ve never heard of that happening, except from one other forum user.
I have a theory; I’m hoping my theory pans true. When a show was recording that I never setup to record, I went in to modify recording and it linked to a different scheduled event. The event that was scheduled was actually a “catch-all” I had created during the NFL season; to record all of my favorite team’s games. This schedule worked well during the football season and did record all the games properly but I’m thinking something in the 1.7.2 update borked that particular situation. I have now deleted that particular scheduled event, which happened to be my highest priority. I am hoping no more unscheduled events record. While I was at it, I deleted many scheduled events for television series that have canceled, such as Grimm, Last Man Standing, and Bones. I’m keeping fingers crossed that that fixed the issue.

You wouldn’t happen to have the log files of all of this would you? I’d love to get a copy of them for a ticket internally. You can goto Settings > Help > Download Logs and attach that entire zip.

I’ve attached my log. I can confirm that only truly scheduled programming has recorded since removing the schedule to record all of my favorite football team’s games. I will want to set up a similar schedule once football season begins, but it’s the offseason anyway at this time.
I have this same issue. I start with no shows scheduled and add in “Record all White Sox games” and it suddenly records everything on every channel. If RonRN18’s logs aren’t enough, I can upload mine, too.

I’ve been having the same issue (until all recordings stopped), DVR recording shows I didn’t request along with nothing has been recording for the last 5 or so days. I just got my 2nd HDHomeRun Extend so that I’ll have four tuners and it’s one glitch after another.
I know (hope) things will get worked out, Plex keeps getting better and better, but I travel often and this is my alternative to my SlingBox which I HATE!!! I’ve been contemplating PlexPass Lifetime but things are still a bit buggy. I need a little more consistency and maybe when I can Sling live TV to all my devices; Roku running Plex, Android phones (Nougat) and IOS seems to work pretty good on iPad Pro 12.

- THIS IS A PLEX SERVER and that is it…NOTHING ELSE running in the background
Keep up the good work but PLEASE FIX ASAP and an explanation would be great.

I have the same problem, when I schedule to record “All Real Madrid Events” in the Spanish “Primera Division Soccer” Plex start recording all the channels all day.
I’m also having this problem. In my case, the “random” shows seem to be linked to a request to record all San Jose Earthquakes soccer games. That has resulted in it recording shows from Big Brother to Spanish soap operas. This is still happening with 1.7.5.4035 running on a macOS server.
I have also the last version installed (1.7.5.4035) running on Windows 10 Pro with a HDHomeRun PRIME.
