Hi,
from time to time, I encounter a video file that is playable by Plex only with some problems. It’s usually a recorded TV show with some continuity errors in the stream or a file with some exotic video codec. Reencoding the file with ffmpeg usually helps, but I find about this problem when my family members complain about Plex acting up again
I find out Plex to be more picky about file quality. The same file usually plays in VLC, but in Plex, there are some problems. The main clients we use are the Apple TV and Plex Media Player (web).
Is there any way to find out if the file is fine for Plex?
I can also imagine that the way to solve this is to improve Plex not to be picky about video files the same way VLC isn’t. Instead of trying to “patch” this issue with some additional overhead for the importing workflow…
