Topics should not close after 3 months of inactivity

This is a form of persistent DELETIONISM, and it’s bad policy. Topics should stay open forever.

That’s not the point. Forums should not closed topics for inactivity. It’s a form of deletionism and it’s a bad policy. Online issues often pop up, or relevant issues pop up after 10 or even 20 YEARS. People shouldn’t have to re-create the same topic in many many unlinked threads over and over to talk about the same topic again. Deletionism is not how online archives should be run, it should be run with a bent towards ARCHIVALISM instead.

The policy was activated for a reason.

That’s misguided. The software and the Plex service are evolving at such a fast pace that old forum threads which dealt with a specific issue are most likely no longer applicable, if a similar issue pops up again.

Plex will run the forums as they see fit.
Closed topics are still available for reading, they are not deleted.
You are free to link to closed threads in a new thread, if you think that your issue is related.

This is clearly not true because the last topic I started already had like 6 dead forum threads on the same topic.
