Trailers in a subfolder create a new movie called Trailers

I have been adding local trailers and extras for some time now using the methods described in the support pages, and have always used the sub-folder method. It’s always worked flawlessly until the last few movies I have added, and suddenly Plex insists that I have added 2 movies, one identified correctly with the local trailer included in the extras section, and another movie called Trailers. I can sometimes correct it by clicking “Refresh” or “Analyze” but more often than not I have to remove the complete folder from the library, empty trash, etc and re-add the movie. So far it has always worked correctly the second time once I have performed the Plex Dance thing.

Folder Structure:
Movies - folder Plex is pointed to for movies
…Movie Name (year) – folder under Movies
…Movie Name (year).ext
…Movie Name (year).eng.srt
…Trailers – sub-folder under the Movie Name folder
…Descriptive name of Trailer.ext

The only thing I can think of that could be causing the problem is that I recently changed the settings to “Run a partial scan when changes are detected.” I can’t imagine that would trigger a “false” movie in a Trailers subfoder, but perhaps it does. I guess if it does, that would be a bug?

I’ve removed the partial scan setting to see if the problem continues, just curious if anyone else has experienced a similar glitch.

Can you provide the local media log after scanning the trailer?

Resurrecting this old thread because even after a new install of PMS recently on a Windows 10 machine, I get the trailer added as a new movie when I enable the partial scan setting. Exact same symptoms and cure as before. I never supplied logs before, because I just disabled that function, and assumed it was more than likely a glitch on my old Vista operating system. Would like to get this working somehow

bumping up for visibility to someone in the know…

It seems I am not the only one as reported here…

Thanks for the update. It is something that’s been reported internally.
