Hi,

I could not find anything about this anywhere and don't know if you are aware of this issue with special episodes.

Short version: Seasons with special episodes will give an error on the Apple TV and won't list the season/show.

Long version:

  • Your ATV model (2 or 3) and firmware version (found under the ATV settings > general > about > Apple TV software):

    • ATV3, firmware 5.3 (6105)

  • The DNS server set on the ATV (found under the ATV settings > general > network > DNS):

    • 10.0.1.6

  • The device and operating system (including version number) that PlexConnect is installed on:

    • Intel® Core™2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz × 4

    • Ubuntu 12.04 LTS

  • The local IP address of the device that PlexConnect is installed on:

    • 10.0.1.6

  • The device and operating system (including version number) that the Plex media server (PMS) is installed on:

    • Same as above (PlexConnect)

  • The local IP address of the device that the Plex media server (PMS) is installed on:

    • Same as above (PlexConnect)

  • Where your media is stored (e.g. internal drive):

    • Internal drive

  • The PlexConnect version number. If using Github source then a time and date of download (look at the creation date of the folder) and if you are using any testing branch e.g. the Elan/PlexInc one.

    • Git clone from 20/6-2012 (9pm)

  • The content of your 'Settings.cfg' file (if you do not have this file you are running an old version, please update)

    • [PlexConnect]
      port_pms = 32400
      enable_plexgdm = True
      ip_dnsmaster = 10.0.1.1
      ip_webserver = 0.0.0.0
      loglevel = Normal
      enable_dnsserver = True
      ip_pms = 192.168.178.10
      port_webserver = 80

  • Detail on the media file if it is an issue related to playing a media file

  • A detailed description of the issue (the clearer you can make this the better):

    • When browsing TV-shows with spesial episodes, the season with the special episode (or whole show) won't be available ("Trailers is unavailable. Try again later."). This are episodes named like e.g. S04E00 and listed in Plex/Web as UNKNOWN where others have E01 etc.

  • Attach 'PlexConnect.log' from your PlexConnect home directory. If possible, follow these steps to create a "fresh" one:

    • 22:15:09 DNSServer: DNS request received!
      22:15:09 DNSServer: Source: ('10.0.1.7', 53370)

Edit: correction

This is the whole log? If you press the "more options" button, lower right corner, there is an "attach" hidden...

Also Plex and thetvdb.com usually use the format S00Exx for specials (hence why they are showing as unknown), is there a reason why you have named them that way?

Btw great post in terms of info, it makes us want to help you ahead of a lot of others posters :wink:

I will make a new logfile later today (after work) and post it here.

Some special episodes are in the "Special" season (S00) but some special episodes are in different seasons. Like this one in Game of Thrones season 3 (A Gathering Storm): http://thetvdb.com/?tab=season&seriesid=121361&seasonid=488434&lid=7

Do the S00Exx ones work correctly?

BTW the example you gave should be labelled S00E07.

I have to check later.

Yes, maybe it should, however some are labeling they the other way also. They work fine in other Plex clients but maybe there is a limitation in PlexConnect to put specials under seasons and get them to work on ATV?

Attached a new log here now. PlexConnect.log (2.82 KB)

Yes they do.

This is a bug and should be fixed BUT I would also consider you episodes mislabelled for Plex (also you may find non s00exx will end up removed from thetvdb as they are reported).

for debugging... please set "loglevel" to "High", restart PlexConnect, retry your file and post the new file. Thanks!

I agree with both :)
