So I used Media Companion to download 50 movie Trailers for my Biography Category, I did a Scan, I did a Refresh Metadata. All the Trailer Boxes are checked in Settings, and Trailers are not showing up as “Extras” in the movie bio and they’re not Playing before movies.
What am I doing wrong all the files are named right?
Here is how the movie/trailer are named and a screenshot of Plex only showing Cast/Related Movies but not showing Extras
There is no need to use an identical filename for the trailer.
Use simply Trailer-trailer.mp4
The part before the hyphen is used as title of the extra, the part after the hyphen describes the type of extra.
Could you please copy & paste the Plex XML info of this movie?
Then it hasn’t heard of Plex yet.
Rename it anyway, just for the sake of experimentation.
guid="com.plexapp.agents.imdb://tt0096409?lang=en"
This means the movie has been matched with the Plex Movie agent.
So look into
Settings - Server - Agents - Movies - Plex Movie
and make sure the line ‘Local Media Assets’ has a checkmark in front of it.
I’m refreshing the Metadata for that movie and it’s taking forever…should I delete the .actors folder and the poster and fan art in the folder or does that not matter?
Refreshed it with the name trailer-trailer and No Extras still
I don’t know what’s in the .actors folder. Normally, it should get ignored, due to the dot at the beginning of its name.
But who knows. It can’t hurt to try without it.
Try the Plex Dance with all files of this movie at once.
How do I clean bundles when I click on it all it says about it is that plex does it automatically every now and then? Nvm I see it now. I hope this works. If it does I’ll simply delete Plex and Reinstall it rather than Plex Dance my whole @#$%.
It’s odd that some1 who has gotten it to work, or knows how to fix it, or can confirm it’s a bug hasn’t chimed in yet… i mean does NOBODY use trailers? LOL?
The answer was I was naming the folder Movie (Year) but the file name Movie [Year] and for some reason even though plex read the movie file fine, it couldn’t read the trailer which is odd because supposedly u can have anything before the -trailer ending as long as it’s in the same movie folder. So it seems like it’s a bug but thankfully I got it to work.
I’m sorry, but how did you get this to work? I have the folder named Movie (Year), and the actual movie file as Movie (Year), and the trailer as Trailer-trailer.mp4 in the same folder as the film but Plex is still not reading it. What was your solution?
They basically told me it was windows fault, not Plex’s which is weird cuz my windows is fine I never modified it. I’ll just have to wait for a patch or update to fix it. As of now, the issue is unresolved.
