Server Version#: 1.32.8.7639
Player Version#: 8.30 (iOS)
Hi all. I have a library with two folders in it - one that contains recent videos that is on my laptop (where the server runs), and one that is a backup of the folder on an external drive. I keep the most recent files on the laptop and move older files to the external drive via a copy process, so the same file can exist in both folders.
If the external drive is not attached, when I attempt to play back a file that is located in both folders, I’m receiving an error: “Conversion failed, transcoder exited due to failure”.
I put the logs into debug and what I noticed is that the transcoder is attempting to locate the file on the external drive even though it is also located in the local drive. Since the drive is not attached, it can’t find the file.
Playback had been working without the external drive (it would show unavailable in the player) as of a few weeks ago and there were no changes made to the library (e.g. adding folders, etc.).
I updated to both the latest server and iOS app, but the error still occurs.
Removing the folder located on the external drive from the library resolves the issue however I’m wondering why this was occurring and how to resolve it, as I’d like to go back to having the two folders in the same library.
