I have been using Plex heavily for music over the passed year and even more now in the recent last two months. I searched the forums for this topic and I gathered that the issue was resolved in various ways but I am still seeing this transcode reason and I don’t know if its a UI bug or if there is actually some transcoding going on.
Here is the scenario.
I have found that when I play AIFF files on the Plex Android mobile app, the app shows me the transcode reason is Bitrate exceeds maximum allowed. See pic below:
When I look at the PMS it shows me direct play. But it also has 128Kbps next to the IP address:
When I look at the Plex Dash app the Plex Dash app shows me PCM Stereo (1Mbps) and the direct play green arrows.
When I play the same track using Plexamp it shows me AIFF 44.1 and my PMS and Plex Dash show me 1 Mbps. I have been using Plexamp more and more, and it is becoming my exclusive go to app for my music. I mostly use the regular mobile app for the chromecasting ability.
Soooo I am just wondering if this is a display bug or something in the UI for the Plex Mobile App or is this really transcoding?
