I have a sinology DS918+ setup as my plex media server. I have tried several times to use the plex app as frontend for home movies, but have issues streaming. Specifically gopro 2.7k and 4k videos and iPhone videos in 4K stutter when playing on my apple TV 4th gen (the non 4K version). I do have a plex pass with hardware transcoding on, and it continues to skip. When I play the same files through Infuse no issues at all. Also, I have one apple TV 4k version, and don’t have these issues. Is there something I am doing wrong or is there an issue with just the apple TV.
From reading other posts the Synology DS918+ should be fine to transcode the 4k stream to 1080 or 720p with people noting they run 2 streams concurrently. Im guessing that my apple TV with 4k is direct stream with the new player and has no issues, but the transcoding is the issue on my other devices?
