This problem happens with EVERY version after 1.16.6.1592.
I have found similar issues that have automatically closed due to inactivity… Is this something that’s even on the roadmap to be fixed?
Because of this single issue, I’m not planning on paying for Plex pass, because I’m forever stuck on this old 1.16 version…
Could someone from support help me with this?
I’m currently running FreeBSD 11.3-RELEASE-p14, plex is installed through pkg.
I always update by doing pkg update && pkg upgrade (and I always have to rollback using a zfs snapshot).
The transcoder is set to use /tmp as cache dir, and it has the correct permissions, since it can create the transcoder directory.
Edit: I’m now running it on FreeBSD 11.4-release-p5, same issues…
Can you share the full log? and is this always giving back this error since 1.16? There were lots of changes in the Transcoder since, so it would make more sense that you experienced different errors… In any case, as long as we can figure what’s happening now and fix it…
This could be due to different things (even a client issue, not PMS) but the full log might tell a bit more.
As for other issues can you DM me those treads? I try to keep an eye on the freebsd tag, but I can certainly miss things
I should warn you that I’m on holiday next week so if you DM the logs I might no be able to send pass them one internally till I’m back, but if you can get me those today I’ll make the best effort to do that.
Here are my log files: Plex Media Server Logs_2020-10-24_14-39-33.zip (538.9 KB)
I downloaded them right after playing National Lampoons Vacation (the one with Chevy Chase), since that one always crashes.
And here is the full raw log that appears in the console:

Fout == Error,
Waarschuwing == Warning

Regarding this: I cannot guarantee that the error was always the same, since I sometimes just attempted to start playing National Lampoons Vacation, and rolled back after it crashed.
But every time I did check the logs, it was the same error.
The problem occurs on all players as far as I can tell, it fails in the browser and it fails when casting with a chromecast.
@hersenbeuker sorry we need a bit more detailed logs, usually DEBUG is ok, bu in this case we might need both, can you please enable DEBUG and VERBOSE logging and grab new logs?
The solution is setting the “kern.ipc.somaxconn” tunable to something higher than 1024. It was you @mikec_pt who replied in that thread, so thanks for that I guess
