Transcoder crashing instantly since update to latest version

Server Version#:1.14.1.5488
Player Version#:3.77.4 (Tried multiple devices, doesn’t matter what)
OS Version: Ubuntu 18.04
Hardware: 20 cores, 16GB ram, VM on a Hyper-V 2016 server

Did not have any issues before upgrading, attempted to find the previous version .deb and I was unable to.

Tried; Reinstalling, Updating Linux, Enable/Disable hardware acceleration, adjusting transcoder values (always had “Make my CPU hurt”, tried setting to Auto)

When attempting to play a video, it will either not play at all, or will play, be covered in green artifact blocks, then skip around the media sometimes 15 to 20 minutes at a time.

Plex Media Server Logs_2019-01-14_10-00-24.zip - Latest log after attempting to play more videos (2.8 MB)

Anyone have the version before this? Family won’t stop texting me.

Would you be kind enough to turn on DEBUG logging and

Fix your machine’s locale ?

What little I was able to see gives me UTF-16 character encoding which only flashes momentarily on my machine before crashing the text editor.

Hi Chuck. Thanks for checking out the logs. The 2nd set of logs I enabled debugging. How can I adjust the locale for you?

Ah, I did not know you needed a full system locale change.

I have set my ubuntu installation to UTF-8 and rebooted.

I am generating new logs for you now.

Plex now hangs up when I try to do anything, unable to get logging currently. Still working on it.

Stop PMS.

sudo tar cfz /tmp/PlexLogs.tar.gz "/var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Logs"

The log file you can upload will be in /tmp

the locale will be fine if set and as long as it contains UTF-8 (which may not be visible to you but I will see it)

Hello Chuck,
After a few hours of dealing with this, I found it was not plex at all.

I ended up rebuilding my entire unraid server due to the controller errors I was seeing. As well as flashing IT firmware on my controller card.

Turns out it was the 10GB LOM nic on my Hyper-V server this whole time. Even though I could browse from the host and open files when transferring large files it would crash the nic and hang up everything.

Dropped in a PCI-e 10gb nic and everything is working great again!

This occurred right after I updated plex which is why it seemed so strange. Sorry for the false alarm
