[Bug] Live TV 1080i channels fail to smoothly play in Plex Web

After upgrading Plex Server to 1.21.0.3616 all the 1080i channels constantly stutter when playing Live TV via Plex Web in both Edge 87.0.664.47 and Firefox 83.0…if they play at all. Sometimes 1080i channels fail to play at all. 720p channels have no issues. 480i channels are much better than 1080i but seem to stutter once in a while. Playback of recorded 1080i channels works fine.

Previous versions of Plex they worked great. Playback works fine for on my LG TV and Android phone; however when I force transcode on my Android phone playback now fails on those channels. I’m guessing that behavior is related as Plex web needs to transcode.

I had the same issue with my HDHomerun. Constant stutter with Plex even though everything looked fine when viewing through the HDHomerun app. I downgraded back to 1.20.4.3517, and everything is working and back to normal. There is obviously an issue with version 3616.

Update: System restore/clean install on nVidia Shield Plex Server and I get the same behavior ish…now 1080i channels won’t play at all in plex web. Works fine on my other clients.

No improvement except now 480i channels work. Also, I can’t ever even get 1080i video to start playing at all. Just a spinning circle for Live TV 1080i channels in Plex web. 720p channels and 480i channels work fine.

I have the same issue. Same server and player version. Android, Roku, etc, all work, it’s just Plex Web. I found that if I set the video quality to 720p (Quality > un-check ‘Use recommended settings’ and select 4Mbps, 720p), then they will (edit: usually) play. So it’s definitely something to do with their 1080-ness.

Update: Player version 4.50.1 seems to play 1080i channels again but they are jerky with frequent audio cut-outs.

Same issue here. Affects both live and dvr channels, and only in plex web. Affects all browsers - Chrome, Firefox and Safari. Everything else works correctly. It’ll play for 5-10s at the time, and cut off for 30s+.

1.21.1.3906 on DS920+ running DSM7, with HDHomeRun CONNECT QUATRO. Happened also on few previous versions.
