Seems to be working in web browser, but not the android Plex app

how do I view the logs from /usr/lib/plexmediaserver/Plex Transcoder?

I am also seeing this error
general protection fault ip:147369da7abe sp:1473616af190 error:0 in liblibx264_encoder.so[147369d9f000+16f000] which was also reported here

  1. Recreate the problem.
  2. Settings - Server - Troubleshooting - Download Logs.
  3. Attach the ZIP file here.

Everything will be in the PMS-generated ZIP file

@ChuckPa Attached, thanks for the help.

Is this server remote ? I see a WAN (public) IP address and an Android player ?

Does it fail if not using Android?

I have it in my DMZ I think. I have some friends that share it and it fails for them too using Samsung app. It works when there is no transcoding.

Going to sound dumb – Turn off the subtitles.

See what happens.

I have tried that as well. It just sits there and doesn’t start playback.

Plex/Web?

Plex web works. It started with original, then it still worked when I changed the playback to Auto and it transcoded it to 720p

I was afraid you’d say that

I’ve seen lots of recent problems with the android client

I don’t know what they’re doing but not looking good. It should never cause PMS to fail.

which version of the app is installed in the TV ?
(not that I can do much for it )

Other choice you have is to back down to an older PMS version.

I have downgraded to previous versions, but it seems like the problem is stuck there now. I am using the android App on a phone 8.20.1.26670.

which phone?

I might be able to find you the app.

Are you familiar with ADB ? (android developer tool) ?

if so, you can side-load any version you want (until next update). It will at least allow you to isolate where the problem is.

Sorry, I meant I downgraded the PMS. I have not tried changing the app. I have a samsung galaxy s21

If you can downgrade the app, now downgrade it.

I have seen Android apps kill PMS (ZERO idea why because it’s theoretically impossible unless it’s making an outlandish / illegal formatted request)

How do I downgrade?
edit: where do I get the previous versions of the app?

that’s what I’m going to try to find. I need research which it is

by the way is there a way to view Plex Transcoder logging? Like, run it manually with the same flags as when PMS calls it?
