Transcoding and Playback Issue DSM 7 on Synology NAS

Server Version#: 1.24.1.4931
Player Version#:

After upgrading my Synology DS218play to DSM 7, PMS is unable to play H265/x265 files. Can somebody please help with this issue?
Logs can be provided, if needed.

The DS218play is an ARMv8 CPU.

  1. It has no hardware transcoding capability in Plex
  2. It can transcode up to 20 Mbps of H.264

Yes, I am clear on point #1.

This issue is that PMS was able to play videos when the NAS was running DSM 6. After the DSM 7 upgrade, a video that was played before, no longer plays. Is there any setting that can be changed to get back to the previous state when PMS was running fine with all content.

Thanks, David

I should mention that the file playback is hit and miss. When I tried to play this time, it did start but almost immediately buffered and was very poor quality.

The requested info has been attached.

I would really appreciate any help to get back to the previous state where PMS was able to play most of the library content.

Hi trumpy81

Thanks for looking at the logs.

The logs stop because I stopped the video and then captured the logs.

The issue remains that I was able to stream this video over the internet from start to end with few issues before. The only thing that has changed since that time is the upgrade of the NAS from DSM6 to DSM7. I am using the same clients (web or Samsung TV) and nothing has changed or degraded in the network setup.

Is there any setting that can be changed to provide better encoding of H265 content? At this time, the video quality is very poor, with buffering, if it plays at all.

Thanks.
